Friedsam Town Forest

The 220 acre Friedsam Town Forest was a gift from the Friedsam family and is a precious conservation resource easily accessible in the heart of Chesterfield. The Forest offers four different trails and three parking areas, Lower Lot being the largest. The forest is typical new growth from old farm and pasture with old stone walls, streams, several old growth trees and interesting rock formations.

Hiking Trails

Sargent Trail is a 45 minute walk through varied terrain between the Upper and Lower Lots on the Twin Brook Road. The trail crosses over the Ravine Bridge, passes by a natural pothole, and two giant trees; an ash and black cherry.

Ancient Oaks Trail is a half hour walk through an old apple orchard and features two 300 year old red oaks. This trail leads to either the Cemetery Loop or the Sargent Trail for a 1 1/2 miles loop back to the Lower Lot.

Cemetery Loop leads to an open view from the cemetery and passes through groves of hemlocks and pine.

Audrey's Meander is a short 15 minute alternative return to the Upper Lot from the giant ash, and features the serence beauty of the upper twin brook.

The Friedsam Town Forest is posted for no hunting.
