Minutes
August 27, 1997

Chesterfield, New Hampshire
Meeting began at 7:30 P.M.
Members Present: McKim Mitchell, Tom Duston, Kathy Davidson, Jeff Newcomer, Fred Szmit, Selectmen's Rep. Tim Butterworth
Also present: Steve Fisher
- McKim invited all to attend a meeting on Wednesday September 3, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. at the Chesterfield Town Hall. This will be an informational meeting to review and discuss replacement of the CT. River bridge.
- McKim reported to the commission that he had been contacted by Bart Bevis of the Fire Department concerning the dredging of fire ponds. Attached is a copy of a statement passed by the state exempting from the permit process the cleaning of fire ponds and intake areas of dry hydrants that have been legally constructed to provide water for municipal fire fighting purposes as approved by the local fire chief. Brief discussion.
- The commission reviewed a minimum impact expedited application to replace a small one lane bridge on a private drive on Horseshoe Rd.
- Information was shared about the Municipal Law Lecture Series coming up in the fall.
- DES Complaint file #97-01194-Silverdale Lane. Complaint from Virginia Street alleges that docks were constructed without a permit and encroaches on the abutter's property. The land owner is Patricia O'Brien and she has 30 days to respond to this letter.
- Purjes property has been revegitated, but most of the trees have died. The DES suggested frequent watering.
- Tom and Steve hiked and filled out forms in regards to the western end of Wantastiquet. Someone will walk it to check on endangered species, etc.
- Stokes parking lot is completed. It will accommodate 12-16 vehicles. Kathy will send a letter to the DPW re: this.
- Property on Gulf Rd. across from Nowill's, the town now owns it. Brief discussion (Daughter of previous owner wants to purchase this 5 acre parcel). The board determined that the Gulf Rd. is a sensitive area and future development should require careful consideration. The commission will send a letter to the Selectmen about this.
- Tom mentioned that the commission consider possible proposing at the 1998 town meeting that the use change tax be increased. He also suggested that the conservation commission do a brook inventory sometime in the future.
- Motion to adjourn by Kathy and 2nd by Jeff at 9:25 p.m. All in favor.
- The next Conservation Commission meeting will be held on Wed. September 24, 1997 at 7:30 p.m. at the Chesterfield Town Offices. Please mark your calendars right now.
