Minutes
January 28, 1998

Chesterfield, New Hampshire
Meeting began at 7:45 P.M.
Members Present: McKim Mitchell, Tom Duston, Kathy Davidson, Jeff Newcomer, Fred Szmit, Selectmen's Rep. Tim Butterworth
- McKim announced that we now have a filing cabinet in the Town Offices.
- We reviewed the Selectmen's letter dated 1/8/98 about the Martini property, and a letter from the Spofford Lake Association dated 1/12/98 to the Planning Board also about the Martini property (erosion control measures and placement of hay bales in particular)
Reviewed the following correspondence (Wetlands)
- Conservation Commission letter dated 1/16/98 to DES re: Folta
- DES letter file #97-01748 re: Peter Mitchell
- DES letter file #97-01730 re: Lost Cloud Forest Mgmt. Chad St. Onge
- McCullough application 108 N. Shore R. (Tax map 005D-003B) Standard dredge/fill application, dock greater than 20 feet in length and greater than 4 feet in width.
- Clarke application on S. Shore Rd. (tax map 5L-5N 12-2.1 B) standard application for a second dock greater than 20 feet in length.
- Letters were received by NHDES re: file#97-1735 Legere, and #97-1737 Pakradooni. The DES letters thanked them for their letters and stated that the state requires a wetland application for both cases.
- Minutes of December 17, 1997 meeting were approved. Motion by Kathy and 2nd by Fred.
- Brief discussion about the signing of the wetlands permits by the Chairperson of the Conservation Commission. (our file copies). Tim will check into this.
- Brief discussion on impact of salt/pug mix on roadways adjacent to bodies of water.
- Tim suggested that the Conservation Commission make a proposal for $ for enforcement of wetlands permits.
- The commission confirmed their desire to have an Ann Stokes loop trail developed. Tom will talk to Ann and to the Society for the Protection of NH Forests.
- John and Helen Daly easement is being worked on with the help from Brenda Lind from the Monadnock Conservancy.
- Tom and Steve will meet with the Richter's about letters related to land protection in the Atherton Hill area.
- Tom, Steve, and McKim have all recently attended meetings of "Save Open Space" a Keene based citizen group for regional open space planning.
- McKim distributed detailed maps and listings of all water courses in town. These will be used for our stream protection proposal of next year.
- Meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, February 18, 1998 at the Town Offices. ( please note the different meeting night due to school vacation)
Friedsam Information
- McKim will give Ellen Snyder's Friedsam report to Steve Hardy for comment.
- We need to work on trail signs/markings to make them more accurate and easy to follow.
- Ben Pfistner will attend our next meeting to discuss his Boy Scout Eagle project for Friedsam.
- Tom reported on cost of signs at $8.00 from Granite State Productions.
