Members Present: Jeff Newcomer, Kathy Davidson, McKim Mitchell, Tim Butterworth
Kathy made a motion to recommend to the Selectmen that they appoint Tom Duston as an alternate to the Conservation Commission. 2nd by Jeff. Brief discussion. Vote unanimous.
Evans/Pacek: Wetlands Board action of 11/14/95. They voted to have plans submitted to remove dam and restore the Peter Wheeler Brook to it's original state.
Zuk: Wetlands Board action of 11/21/95. The dams were removed as required, now they are in compliance.
Friedsam Town Forest: John Herrick, using ropes and levers, constructed a bridge, about 18 ft. in length. The stringers are there, in need of decking now. Tentative date Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Jeff wants the Conservation Commission to look at snowmovile trail through Friedsam. Is the trail too close to the beaver pond? The trail has slightly changed to avoid steep slope.
A Wetlands Board application was received for replacing beach sand at Camp Spofford due to flash flood occurring in October. Jeff mentioned that perhaps the problem with seasonal stream and runoff should be addressed at this time also. How much sand were they bringing in for this was questioned by Tim. A letter will be sent to the wetlands board re: amount of sand and has the problem been solved as far as the stream is concerned. C.C. does not want to see this problem repeat itself.
A townsperson brought to our attention that alot of trees are being marked for cutting on Rt. 63 between Granite Bank and the town center. McKim will contact the land owner concerning this.
Discussion re: land locked piece from County. This piece in fact does connect to Town property on North Shore Rd. The C.C. voted to accept this land. Tim will send a letter to Selectmen and Granite Bank accepting the land. This land has strong conservation value. Tim will contact the Selectmen re: this.
Kathy made a motion for the C.C. to donate up to $25. for the construction of the Friedsam bridge. 2nd by Tim. Unanimously approved.
Minutes of the September 27, 1995 meeting approved. Next meeting Wed. Dec. 27, 1995, 7:30 p.m.
